Undergraduate students:  Bioc 310 and Bioc 401/402 are excellent mechanisms for Rice undergraduates to obtain research experience on real projects in plant genetics and molecular biology.  Paid summer positions are also available.  Preference is given to students interested in more than one semester of research.  Please email (bartel@rice.edu) if you are interested. 

Graduate students:  Please apply to the Biochemistry and Cell Biology Department.  During the first year of study, students conduct three research rotations in different laboratories to gain exposure to a variety of projects.  Dissertation lab choices are made in the second semester.  Read more about graduate study towards the Ph.D. in our department here.
